House Permits!

Hard to believe, but we actually have plans and permits for our house! Yikes! It still seemed like we were months away... but it is upon us already! I am so thankful that Michael knows what to do, because I have been looking at our architect like a deer caught in the headlights. All I want to know is when I can start painting and making it pretty. Actually, I am kind of excited about helping with some of the demo work. Hopefully I won't injure myself or anyone else in the process! I will be sure to keep everyone posted during this process..... We did find some great windows at Rejuvination today. I had just assumed we'd be doing vinyl, simply because I didn't think there were any other options. Well, duh...... they do still make things out of wood! And, they make things to look like they should go with our house, which is even better. Most of our windows are the "double hung" type (see picture), so we will simply use the same kind, which is pretty snazzy, if you ask me!

10 months gone by........

As of January 17th, our little munchkin is 10 months old. There is a part of us that is very excited to see what is around the corner, but also the part that wants to hang onto our baby, and keep him right where he is. His personality comes out more and more every day, with every objection, every laugh, every squeal. I still catch myself looking at him and thinking "Wow, we did that!" He is the most incredible little person I've met thus far, and I truly can't wait to see what he has in store for us.

Teething is brutal!

For the past 10 months, every time Mason has done something out of character (cry, basically) we have blamed it on teething. He has no teeth to date. Last Thursday he developed a fever of 100.9, on and off for about 24 hours, has been clingy and basically just "off" ever since. We are officially blaming this on teething, but have yet to see any teeth. Apparently some babies get a few teeth at a time, which is what we are hoping for, as I can't imagine going through this for every single tooth...... Michael called earlier to check on us and I informed him that today has made me wonder if I am even designed to handle a 2nd child............

The Election, of course......

Because a blog is in essence a journal of important moments in our lives, I also wanted to acknowledge that Barack Obama was appointed as the 44th President yesterday. Good stuff.

New morning ritual.....

This picture has nothing to do with my post..... it is just darling and I know all of you will melt when you see it!

Anyone that knows me well knows that I am NOT a morning person. I had hoped that becoming a Mommy would convert me. Well, I did my time, but as soon as he started sleeping through the night I was back to my old ways. Mason is quite set on his sleep schedule 8:30-6. Now, 6 am is a tad early for Mommy. Luckily Michael gets up at that time anyway, so the 2 two of them get up, have breakfast, play, and just enjoy their morning together. Around 7 Michael plops Mason into bed with me and proceeds to the shower. The next 10-15 minutes are my favorite of the whole day. He squeals, yells, bangs his toy on the pillow, and gives me tons of open mouth kisses all over my face. I can't think of a better way to start my day........

On a lighter note....

I decided that after my grumpy ramblings the other day that I'd better switch gears and remind myself of the many things that are quite wonderful in my life:

* My handsome and very understanding husband, Michael. The man deserves an award after the year he has been through with me.....
* Mason~ It could take me 3 days to write what I appreciate about our adorable boy, but my favorite, since about 3 months old, is how he gnaws on my chin. Nothing has ever made me laugh so hard.
* Our house~ albeit ugly, it will be beautiful, and I am grateful to have a home for our child.
* My sister Emilee, and her husband Joe finally only live an hour away!
* My brother, Jamie, lives only an hour the other way! This has not been the case in at least 10 years. I just always assumed we would live close to one another as adults. Turns out, I am the only one that didn't go too far!
* My mother in law, Linda. For many things, loving our child while we are at work and/or school so that he doesn't have to be in childcare. For really caring about what I want for Christmas and actually getting it for me. For forcing me to figure out what is wrong with me, even if it is because I don't want to be asked about it again :)
* My Dad is in remission from prostate cancer. Wonderful!
* Last, but certainly not least, I am forever grateful for my Aunt Mary and the time that I did have with her.

Just one more whine...

Out of the many side effects of hypoglycemia, why is it that "rapid weight loss" is not one that I seem to be suffering from????
